Thanks for replying, Yes I did both, simple restart and then a full shut down let rest for 5 minutes and start up again. Neither worked. I also tried it on my wife's laptop, and it worked for a brief moment (the software windows came up) but with the slightest jiggle of the laptop, the windows disappeared to be replace by the familiar message: 'Please connect your Easy VHS to DVD Capture hardware to any USB 2.0 port.' I think it has to be the actual USB device at this point that is not functioning.
